DAO Treasury Exposure and Liquidity Data

Separate treasury asset quantities, market valuations, restrictions and liquid execution capacity, rather than treating one headline portfolio value as spendable cash.

Overview

When translating these concepts into an integration, keep the scope described by the wallet history api with the result. The examples in wallet transaction history and smart contract event logs show how the same distinction affects neighbouring data questions.

A treasury report can contain native currency, governance tokens, stablecoins and protocol positions. Their market values do not imply the same liquidity or availability for operating expenses.

Keep quantity, value and availability

Record technical asset identity and exact units first. Attach valuation observations and any restriction evidence separately. Treasury-owned tokens can have a quoted market value while being difficult to sell at scale. Staked or collateralised assets can also carry withdrawal constraints absent from a simple wallet balance.

Worked example: concentrated holdings

A treasury’s headline value is mostly its own governance token. A small trade establishes a market price, but selling the whole balance could materially affect execution. Report the marked value with concentration and liquidity context rather than calling the entire total immediately available operating funds.

Test reporting assumptions

Include unknown prices, vesting restrictions and nested DeFi positions. Avoid counting a receipt token and its full underlying claim twice. Keep liabilities visible. A report should distinguish cash-like availability under a stated policy from gross exposure, and preserve the evidence used for both.

A practical acceptance test

Build a treasury dominated by a thinly traded governance token plus restricted collateral and a liability. Assert separate gross marked value, restriction context and net exposure. An unavailable price should make valuation partial without erasing the quantity. A cash-availability view must use its own documented policy rather than copy the headline market-value total.

Questions about the topic

Frequently asked questions

Is marked treasury value the same as liquid cash?

No. Restrictions and execution depth matter.

Should unknown prices be treated as zero assets?

No. Quantities can be known while valuation remains unresolved.
